This is largely a matter of personal preference. All of our strops are made of the best quality stropping leather we can find. Our cow hide strops is great value for money, and the quality control on them is top-notch. If you prefer a thinner strop, then the kangaroo strops are best. If you prefer the draw of horse leather (a favorite for straight razors), then our shell cordovan strops are great too.
As for the compound, again this is personal preference but if you have any high vanadium carbide steels, then diamond compounds are best.
