Q - How do they compare?
A - Both are excellent stones and both do a great job cutting and polishing. Both have high quality diamond particles inside of a stone binding agent. The CGSW stones are made in the US and the Venev stones made in eastern Europe. Some people prefer Venev, others CGSW.
Just be aware that new CGSW need significant preparation work on their top surface before they are ready to use. They won't cut very well when new, due to a thin layer of resin on the top of the stones that need to be removed before use. A Nagura conditioning stone or some silicon carbide powder work well to use to prepare them for first use.
