They are rated in diamond particle micron size. There are countless grit ratings used, but most commonly is Japanese (JIS) rating and FEPA-F rating. Please refer to the Gritomatic Grand logarithmic chart to compare the particle size to the grit rating you prefer.
Particle size is on the Y-Axis (along the left side, vertically) and grit ratings on the X-Axis (Horizontally) of the chart.
