This would depend on the actual grit rating used on your 8000 grit stone and the bonding used by the stone manufacturer. It also depends on whether you're chasing a mirror edge, or just a very sharp edge.
If you're referring to, for example the JIS 6001 rating, then a good next step could perhaps be 0.5 micron or smaller but again, it depends on many factors.
