Will this stone holder hold stones without a aluminum blank? Jusr a 6" × 1" stone. And can it be used in th R2 .

Yes, this is actually the same holder as the one used in the Hapstone R2. It will hold non-backed stones just fine, as long as you adjust the clamp position accordingly to allow the spring to hold your stones.
