Q - there are different types of diamond stones, are resin bonded diamond stones the best?
A - Resin bonded stones wear with use, similar to water stones and you can continually refresh their surface during use. They are less aggressive than plated stones and will leave a much finer edge. If you just want a sharp every day use knife and have aggressive stones, then diamond plated will work fine. If you want more refined edges then diamond resin (like Venev or similar) is better.
