Q - Hi, I have the Beta Centauri pack, but it's taking me a lot of time with the first stone to reprofile a budget knife. I wonder if I am doing something wrong or maybe I need a coarser stone? Which stone would you recommend me to reprofile faster? Thanks!
A - If you're re-profiling or cutting a new bevel, then a diamond plate is the easiest and cheapest way to go. You can use the Gritomatic coarse diamond plate, TSProf plate, or even a cheap Chinese 6x1 diamond plate for this purpose. The Venev coarse stone will set a bevel, but it takes much longer. Once your bevel is set, then you only have to use your venev stones in future.
