Are the clamp jaws lined to prevent them from scratching the knife blade?

No, they are not lined. They are made of Duralumin, which cannot directly scratch your knife blade if they are kept clean and clear of any abrasive or steel particles. Duralumin is much softer than a hardened knife blade. When using Duralumin clamps, it is only abrasive or steel particles on a dirty clamp that can scratch a knife blade.
