Eventually do these stones require truing like any other? Can they be flattened with silicon carbide powders?

They have a very hard bond and wears down very slowly. Eventually the coarser grit stones will need some flattening first but it will take some time before that's necessary. When needed, you can do it with silicon carbide powder just like with other bonded stones.
