It looks like a small combination square would fit nicely under the clamp to check assure chisel is square?
Chisel Module
Chisels are thicker than combination squares so it looks to me like you could use a small square and lay it on the table. Square up the chisel to the combo square and clamp the chisel down. The combo square should slide right out.

Yes, that works. You can also use a silvertip permanent marker and draw square lines on the black table itself and use those as a guide. All that said, it's not super critical for the chisel to be 100% square because the stone itself also rotates around a longitudinal axis which automatically compensates for slight squaring errors to a certain extent.
