That really depends on what you would like to achieve with the strop. If you merely want to use one strop to refine an edge after medium-fine grit sharpening then a 1 micron diamond abrasive on the strop is a solid choice.
If you would like to achieve a mirror polish on your knife edge, then you would need to go very fine on your stones, before progressing through numerous grits of abrasive strops from coarse to very fine (all on their own dedicated strop) for mirror polishing.
If you wanted to strop a very delicate, fine edge such as a straight razor then you could even use the bare stop without any compound.
