Due to the differing grit ratings, the 1000 grit diamond plates can be followed up by (for example) a F400 Venev diamond bonded stone, depending on what you want to achieve.
For general use and great sharpness, you don't really need anything beyond the 1000 grit diamond plate but if you want to refine towards even finer or mirror type edges then you can look at F400 (Fepa-F grit rating) and finer stones.
