The original sharpening stone used to produce the 6"x1" size is sourced from Kyoto Special Product. This stone is called Atagoyama Shiage Toishi. "Atagoyama" refers to its mine of origin, while "Shiage Toishi" indicates its class as a finishing stone (grit rating). Other components of the JNAT naming convention—such as visual qualities and strata—have been omitted by the manufacturer. Please note that we do not have sufficient expertise to attribute visual qualities or identify the specific strata of the stone. Additionally, keep in mind that the visual properties of cut stones may not exactly match those of the original, uncut stone.
