Grit equivalencies with Arkansas Stones are only approximate, but round about the following grits
Soft Arkansas F500-F800 (or J800-J2000)
Hard Arkansas F800-F1200 (or J2000-J4000)
Hard Black or Hard Translucent Arkansas F1200+ (J4000+)
You can use coarser than those grits to lap and flatten them, and then finish off with approximately the grits above.
