Looking for a hard + flat strop for both trailing and leading strokes.
Hetinax Strop [6" x 1"]
I recently had a resin bonded strop from a popular brand that's regarded as being good ... yet, somehow, my leading stroke resulted in a gouge. Which I didn't even realize was possible as I'd used it about 10x without any issue. I thought it was just a nuance of the strop, but the very next day, had the same exact experience with the 5-micron stone, as well. (both are backed on aluminum).
Will this "Hetinax" be vulnerable to this same risk if used below 25 DPS..?
If so, any suggestions for a product that is both safe with leading strokes, and either:
- is inexpensive enough to buy one for each stropping compound size...
-or-
- can be used with more than one stropping compound as you can just wipe if off in between grits.
