Fine cowhide strop cleaning?
Is there a good way to clean off the metal swarf from the fine cowhide strop loaded with stroppy stuff compound? I tried a pencil eraser but that only sort of works... there is still a lot of swarf that remains on the strop and it doesn't seem like it is taking any compound in those areas if I reapply. I also tried rubbing alcohol but it only lifted out the diamond compound and not the swarf. Can they be effectively cleaned or am I better off just replacing the leather? Would i be better off going for a less fine grain leather?
