Just to confirm, this adapter is designed to be used with the clamp listed below-

If you have the correct clamp (as listed above), and it still wont work with the bolts supplied, then Gritomatic might have sent you the wrong length bolts.

Yes that's the clamp, though I got mine in the WSPA upgrade kit a few years ago. The thicker bolts came with the gearconnect adapter along with the thinner bolts, but I think you're right that they are probably another set of the original bolts. I guess they sent me the wrong bolts that are around 1/4 inch too short. I'll try sending them an email, but I haven't had much luck getting responses from gritomatic.

Well, no response to my email or follow up email after a week. I included pictures showing that out can't work with the supplied bolts. I even tried again today to make sure but no joy. With no customer support response there's no choice but to request a return before my return window closes. That's too bad. I would have liked to repurpose that wide central clamp.

See if you can get hold of them via phone, they might be very busy with the Christmas season approaching fast.

Now that I'm looking at the product page picture again I can see that my great connect adapter doesn't have the recessed slot for the Kakbritva clamp bar to fit in to. Mine is totally flat on the clamp side. Maybe they changed the adaptor design without compensating with longer bolts.

What's the length of your bolts, as a matter of interest?
By
The bolt is 49.8mm long. The adaptor is 20mm with recessed section that the R2 clamp bar sits in, 22mm full thickness. The bolt needs to be at least 55mm long to work.

I just assembled and checked my R2 bar with my adapter and Kakbritva wide central clamp and mine works perfectly fine with the same length bolts as yours. I'm fact, I even tried a 45mm bolt and it still works just fine. My Gearconnect adapter measures exactly the same as yours. For reference, my R2 bar is 6mm thick and the block that is attached to my Kakbritva wide central clamp is 15.4mm wide. Is your R2 bar or your Kakbritva block the same thickness?
By
Kakbritva clamp block is 15.5mm and my R2 slotted clamp bar is 8.2

My bolt measurements were total length by the way. I guess it would be more informative to give the bolt shaft length without the head which is 44.85mm

Ah, that makes sense now. Seems like they made the R2 bar a little thicker so you will need bolts that are 5mm longer.
Did you try using the thicker bolts that Gritomatic supplied with your new generation R2 bar? I think they might have taken that into consideration and maybe they work with the new bar and your adapter?
By
So 8.2+20+15.5 is 43.7mm total thickness of components which leaves 1.15mm worth of protruding threads for the nut IF I leave both washers off. I've tried it but the nut gets less than 1 turn. I think it would strip the bolt in no time flat.

Yeah I tried. They are too thick to fit through the R2 clamp slot. I even tried threading them through but it was crushing the threads and scratching up the R2.

It clearly seems like Hapstone has a new bar design, so your only option will be slightly longer bolts. I'm guessing that Gritomatic was never informed about the new bar design by Hapstone, and they likely do not know about it.
I would visit the local hardware store if I were you and just get 2 compatible bolts, nuts and washers. That's probably going to be the quickest and easiest solution. Take the bar and adapter along with you to see what works. It should be pretty cheap and easy fix.

Yeah, but I live in Queens NYC where most people don't own cars and the nearest Home Depot is a 30 minute walk or half the price of the adapter in bus fair. I'll try calling them and see what they'll do about it I guess, but I doubt they have bolts just laying around. We'll see.
